Benefits to Joining a Professional Group

Joining a professional organization not only enhances your resume, but also provides valuable information to students and employers within their field. Many organizations have publications that members can receive at discounted rates, or are included in their membership rates. Also, memberships sometimes include affiliations in which members can get discounts from other companies. Depending on the organization, members can network with other members to find out about different job opportunities. You can find out what each organization’s membership benefits are by going to their website. Students, in almost all organizations, are able to get a discounted membership fee, if not a free membership to the organization.

Liberal Arts in the Workplace--and Beyond!

A liberal arts education is more relevant today than ever before. In a world that can be seen as divided and unsettled, the capacity to put oneself in another’s shoes is important. Having the ability to understand multiple viewpoints allows us to see beyond our own environment and to imagine other possibilities. Thinking outside the box opens doors to new relationships in our personal lives, within the workplace, and beyond.
